A camp masjid from $2,400 and a permanent masjid from $13,000 — built by our own team, documented at every stage, and a Sadaqah Jariyah that lasts.
Social Care builds masjids in Cox's Bazar from $2,400 for a Rohingya refugee camp masjid and $13,000 for a full permanent structure with a concrete roof. Both figures are the complete delivered cost — materials, labour, supervision and documentation for the funding organisation.
| Type | Cost (USD) | Construction |
|---|---|---|
| Rohingya camp masjid | $2,400 | Tin sheet, brick and mesh |
| Permanent masjid | $13,000 | Full structure with a concrete roof |
Inside the Rohingya refugee camps, construction is restricted to lighter, semi-permanent materials, so a camp masjid is built in tin sheet, brick and mesh. It gives a camp block a proper place of prayer, shelter from the monsoon and a space for children's Qur'an lessons, and it can be built quickly.
In host communities outside the camps, a permanent masjid with a concrete roof is the better investment. It lasts for decades and becomes the centre of village life — five daily prayers, Jumu'ah, Ramadan taraweeh and a maktab for the local children.
Building a masjid is among the most valued forms of Sadaqah Jariyah: every prayer offered inside it continues to benefit the one who funded it. Charities commonly raise for a masjid in the name of a deceased parent or relative, and we install a plaque naming the donor or dedication where the funding organisation asks for one.
A camp masjid is typically completed within a few weeks of funds arriving. A permanent masjid takes longer, and we agree a schedule with the funding organisation before work begins, with photographs sent at each stage so progress is visible throughout.
